University College London Faculty of Engineering (UCL Engineering)

Non-Profit

In 1827, UCL founded the first laboratory in the world devoted to engineering education. Over 180 years later, we are still at the cutting edge of the discipline, home to some of the most successful engineering departments in the UK. Many essential technologies originated from studies and work at UCL, including the rapid production of vaccines, fibre-optic communications (for which a share of the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded), and the Internet infrastructure. The complexity of today’s societies means that engineers deal with an incredible range of challenges, ideas, and techniques.
